My backgroud and experiences

My love for art has been with me since childhood, shaped by growing up in the vibrant and art-filled city of Milan.

At home, I was immersed in a world of art books, original paintings and prints, fostering my curiosity and deep connection to creativity. Since I was young I knew I wanted to study art so I attended an art school during my college years, and after I decided to continue my studies in History of Art at the Catholic University in Milan. During this period I developed a deep passion for contemporary African art, which led me to write my bachelor's thesis in 2012 on the contemporary art scene in Nairobi.

Building on this foundation, I moved to Paris to pursue a Master's in Contemporary Art at Sorbonne University. For my Master’s thesis, I spent three months in South Africa, working with the Joburg Art Fair in Johannesburg. This experience enriched my understanding of the local art ecosystem and inspired my dissertation on the work of the acclaimed photographer Roger Ballen.

In 2015, I co-curated the sixth edition of the LagosPhoto Festival, Designing Futures, which explored the relationships between Africa and design and how we might reimagine the continent's future.

In 2016, I curated an exhibition called Designing Africa 3.0 during the 26th African Film Festival in Milan.

Designing Africa 3.0 examined the contemporary dialogue surrounding design in Africa, focusing on a new generation of artists, photographers, and creatives united by digital tools and a visionary approach to artistic creation. The exhibition highlighted how design production in Africa serves as both a reflection of societal transitions and a source of inspiration for younger generations of Africans and others intrigued by the continent.

Before transitioning into the intersection of art and technology, I gained experience at prestigious institutions such as the Swiss Institute in New York and art galleries such as Galleria Cortina in Milan, and Galerie Artima in Paris.
